Disaster: Averted

October 15, 2011

Candles – they can be beautiful, soothing and relaxing… or they can be molten disasters. So it was today.

My beautiful red pillar candle overflowed its holder and dripped onto my wooden coffee table. The wax had completely dried when I saw it. Quick fix. I got my small spatula that I use for removing cookies from baking sheets and VERY carefully scraped the dried pool of the wax from the table. (Some recommend using a credit card so as not to scrape the finish of the wood. I suppose it just depends on how careful you are.) Next I got out my super-powerful CHI hairdryer and a very old washcloth and within five seconds, the rest of the wax had been melted and wiped up.

And back to relaxation.
